So tomorrow at 7:20 AM I will leave Malta and head back to good ol' Germany. Today me and the other interns from Germany had our final meeting with Joseph from Paragon (the company managing our internship) where we received a certificate and had some other papers signed. Because now I have nothing to do till the evening I thought I'd sum up some of the things I did in the last week, so here we go:
We rented a motorboat in Gozo (the smaller island next to Malta) for a whole day. It had 60hp which is quite a lot considering none of us has license to operate a boat, but because of that we could easily go all around Gozo and the small island of Comino between Malta and Gozo. It was a really nice trip and we stopped to swim and relax whenever we wanted. I guess it actually was one of my favorite days here.
Last Wednesday there was the summer party of Intercomp they have once a year and incidentally it also was my last day of work there. So it kind of felt like a goodbye party for me which I liked, because I had the chance to have a drink with all my colleagues and to say good bye to everybody. The location was very cool, it was a private beach club in Sliema and each employee of Intercomp got a wristband with which we could order free drinks from the bar. I made good use of that, believe me ;) There was live music and some belly dancers as well as a DJ complete with light show and also a big barbecue. It was a great evening and I had a lot of fun (and cocktails).
There was a beerfest near Mosta and Samuel (a colleague of Matthias) invited us to go there with him. It would be nearly impossible to go back from there in the night because there would have been no buses but Samuel drove us with his car so that wasn't an issue. We met at Samuels apartment and had some drinks before we went. That was especially cool for me because I'm not really into beer, so I was glad i could drink some long-drinks there before i would be surrounded by beer the whole night. And my fear became reality when i noticed there was actually nothing to drink there but beer. Smart as I am, I took a bottle of Jack-Coke with me so i had something to drink while listening to some live music acts on 2 stages. And after a while when my bottle was empty I was even drunk (and dehydrated) enough to try some beer. I hate that stuff, but for some reason I didn't care anymore that evening. But don't worry I arrived home safely :)
Those were the highlights of the last weeks, of course we were at the beach several times, got some work done and relaxed in the apartment. But i don't have to write about that in detail. I did take some pictures, but my camera is pretty bad and I'll wait to add pictures until i receive them from my colleagues with better cameras :)
All in all I think my internship was a success because I got to know some really nice people, learned a lot of stuff about computers and working in an IT-company and I might have even acquired a little bit of a tan and you guys know how hard that is for an IT-person, right? ;)
